Asante Kotoko suffered from "emotional depression" since losing 1-0 to Al Hilal in the 2019 Confederations Cup.

This was revealed by the club's policy badyst, Yaw Amo Sarpong.

The Porcupine Warriors conceded a goal in the 40th minute and were able to recover from this setback.

"The team was emotionally depressed before the match because we were delayed for an hour at the hotel and I think that affected the players," Sarpong told Kumasi-based Ashh FM. .

"We want everyone, and especially our supporters, to forget this defeat and get ready for our home game against Zesco United because it's a match to win.

"We have to have a backup plan every time we travel for matches and I hope it helps the team.

"The Zesco United operation must fail in Kumasi is a good initiative and the Kotoko team will make it a reality as this African campaign is aimed at all Ghanaians."
