The manager does not lack talent in his Manchester City team, but believes that the midfielder has made it almost impossible

Manchester City's point guard, Bernardo Silva, has made it virtually unstoppable for manager Pep Guardiola.

City of the season Kevin De Bruyne was forced to fight two medial knee ligament injuries this time and only recently returned to fitness.

De Bruyne's absence largely left the former Monégasque star Silva in the central midfield as opposed to the wide, right-wing place he usually occupied in his first season at Etihad Stadium.

With the exception of club captain Vincent Kompany, who suffers from a calf problem, Guardiola is proud of his condition before Wednesday's trip to Everton, where a win would allow the defending champions to return to top of the Premier League, Liverpool goal difference.

This means that the competition for the places is fierce, but a gifted Portuguese international does not seem to fear the ax.

"For me, giving up on Bernardo Silva now is almost impossible," Guardiola said.

"Right now, it's Bernardo and 10 other players.

"I do not know what this guy has been doing this season, playing in the center and on the outside, every game he played was perfect.

"Make decisions, how he fights, read the moves in an offensive and defensive way, the way he lives the game.

"Every time we miss a chance, he makes that reaction [puts head dramatically in hands]. He lives that, he is absolutely involved.

"They have to compete with Bernardo in this position."

Out of 32 appearances in all competitions in 2018-2019, Silva scored eight goals and seven badists.
