The future of Eden Hazard in Chelsea seems to be seriously questioned after the striker admitted that he had made a decision on his next step, with a move to Real Madrid considered his favorite choice.
"I know what I'm going to do. I made a decision, "said Hazard on French radio RMC, without however giving more details.
The interview was recorded two months ago as part of a career documentary, but it was unveiled only this week and could influence the context of the guessing games that continued to follow every movement of Hazard.
The uncertainty surrounding the projects of the 28-year-old Belgian has been an unwanted current for the Chelsea season. Hazard has publicly admitted to being split between staying at Stamford Bridge and the "dream" of moving to Real, a club he called "best club in the world" in October.
The manager, Maurizio Sarri, said in December that it was "time to decide" the issue, but he also agreed to the departure of his star player if that was his wish. "If he wants to go, he has to go," Sarri said last week.
The situation is particularly urgent given that the Hazard contract expires in June 2020 and that it has not yet considered new conditions. If Real and Hazard are both likely to be subject to an agreement, it is unlikely that Chelsea will oppose its path, even if it could take a nine-digit bid to seal its deal departure.
