A girl died of flu and pneumonia just four days after she started showing signs of illness, according to her broken-hearted family.
Ashanti Grinich, 4, died Thursday after her family noticed a cold a week earlier on Sunday.
Her family rushed the Garland girl into a local emergency room on Tuesday, KTVT reported.

"She did not even have a fever at that time, we just knew that she was very slow and that she was not eating," said the girl's father, Martell Grinich.
"When I think of my baby, it makes me fall. (crying) That's why I lived. I told him I would not let anything happen to him. I preached to him.
The death of Ashanti is the seventh infant flu death to have been reported in Dallas County this flu season. According to the girl's family, she had not received a flu shot.
