Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko expressed in light of recent clashes in the Ayawaso polls
New Patriotic Party (NPP) leader Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko is saddened by recent incidents of violence in the country and by the fact that some "elements", by their irresponsible actions, portrayed the party's bad image to citizens world in general.
In a message on his wall, Otchere-Darko firmly defended his party, saying that the government in power was the least tolerant of violence or anything that tends to hinder the progress and stability of the nation.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the effect of these actions on the well-deserved reputation of the party and its leaders, especially the fact that it gives people a chance to compare them to the negative traits of the NDC.
"It burns the heart when there are elements to negatively compare the NPP to the NDC. It's not in our DNA to compete with the NDC in things that are holding up our nations, "he said.
Mr. Otchere-Darko's comments follow recent clashes in La Bawaleshie, near the polling station, where the vote to elect a new Member of Parliament from Ayawaso West Wougon took place.
Some members of the armed security forces invaded the residence of NDC candidate Delali Kwasi Brempong and wreaked havoc when they shot at some people, wounding them at the same time.
Sam Dzata George, Member of Parliament of Ningo Prampram, while he was trying to confront them about the incident that occurred at the premises of his candidate, was the subject of a new wave of fury.
While many civil society organizations and parties have called for the conviction of the act, others blamed the president for neglecting his role as commander-in-chief of Ghana's armed forces by allowing such acts occur under its supervision, IGP and national security have also not been spared by various organizations and citizens who believe to be ineffective and compromise the security of Ghanaians.
