Black participants did not, however, mention other bad cancer survivors in their networks.
Black and white participants used the focus group environment to support each other.
The results underscore the importance of knowing and understanding the nuances of patient support needs. Interventions must address these needs by facilitating relationships between survivors, providing more opportunities for clinician support and encouraging women to invite family and friends to actively contribute to their care.
