Dr. Selanwiah S. Mumin, secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of the central district of Navrongo, has extremely harshly condemned the violence in the by-election in the constituency of Ayawaso West- Wuogon who has just finished.

The opposition party's secretary stated that the violent nature of the by-election went against current standards and clearly showed how much the time of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government was unstable.

The constituency of Ayawaso West Wuogon was partially elected on Thursday, January 31, 2019 following the death of Emmanuel Agyarko, MP for the region. Mr. Agyarko died in November 2018 after battling a short-term illness.

The by-elections were characterized by attacks as masked men, who would be agents of national security. They opened fire sporadically and almost disrupted the electoral process.

Dr. Selanwiah S. Mumin, speaking on the sidelines of a journalist, said the violence posed a threat to national security. He expressed his fears for the country in the upcoming elections and said he was disappointed with the way security agencies, especially the police, handled the attacks.

He called for a thorough investigation of Thursday's troubles to help expose the men responsible for the attacks that have injured many supporters of the NDC.

"Ghana is no longer safe under this NPP government. Our ancestors fought and gave us freedom. They liberated us from our colonial masters and gave us peace and freedom. But the NPP government has made this country unsafe and there is no more freedom and peace. What happened in Ayawaso West Wuogon was very serious and should not be allowed to go that way. The NPP intentionally led these thugs to create chaos and intimidate people on their behalf.

We, the NDCs, are a peace loving party and we will always be. We call on the NPP government to urgently investigate the violence that has hurt many of our supporters. All masked men who are members of security must be investigated and punished if found guilty. " He noted.

Meanwhile, party leaders accused the NPP government of robbing them of the Tono water treatment plant project.

They say that the project that was cut by the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources of Navrongo on January 28, 2019 is a "development project" of the National Democratic Congress (NEC) that had already been commissioned by the President of the time, John Dramani Mahama. in 2016.
