For his part, Tink's technical manager said that working with banks is "a very good thing".
"Obviously, for us, it's a business, it's a way to leverage our technology," Hedberg said. "But also for the industry, the market and the company … it will increase the transparency of the market and increase competition in the market."
Fredrik added that, as well as the banks, it works with the fintechs of the Swedish online payment company Klarna to small businesses consisting of "two guys in their garage".
"It's very similar between these segments," he said. "They all use our platform to build their next generation of banking products."
Tink said the funds announced Thursday would be used to fuel the expansion of its development platform – used by software developers to access financial data – in the UK, Germany, Austria, and Belgium. and in Spain.
Hedberg, of Tink's, said that although the company is focused on further deployment in Europe, an international expansion beyond the continent was on the horizon.
