Some protesters lament while others lie on the ground to protest attacks on violence in the country
Hundreds of Ghanaians marched Thursday in the main streets of Accra to put pressure on the government so that it takes urgent measures to fight against the acts of violence and the attacks more and more frequent in the country .
The protest, convened by Bernard Mornah, National President of the National People's Convention (PNC), was christened "aagbe w?", Which means "they kill us."
The protesters, dressed in red and black placards, carried placards with inscriptions such as "Ghana beyond the forces of the Delta", "bloody deputy", "Ghana beyond violence", "Bryan is evil", "Government of family and friends", "Boot 4 boot" "Ghana is no longer safe", "PGI must leave", among others.
Eric Edem Agbana, NDC Assistant Youth Organizer; Ningo Prampram MP Sam George; NDC Secretary General Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, former NDC Government Ministers, Sherry Ayitey and Nana Oye Lithur, and former WADA Director General Alfred Oko Vandepuije.
Hannah Bissiw, former Tano South MP for Tano South, Sylvester Mensah, NDC Flag Bearer; Klottey Korle MP Zanetor Rawlings, Sagnarigu MP, A.B.A Fuseini and NDC National President Samuel Ofosu Ampofo all joined the event.
The protest followed the case of heavily armed uniformed soldiers who attacked citizens at a polling station in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency during last Thursday's by-election.
Protesters marched from Obra's spot to the Farrisco fire, then to UTC, High Street, the Ministry of the Interior and police headquarters before finally converging on Jubilee House, amidst chants. and drums.
They presented petitions to the Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery; Inspector General of Police, David Asante Appeatu; and the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, to demand that measures be taken on the security situation in the country.
