Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy finally had the opportunity to tell Max Kellerman of ESPN what he thought of him when he appeared in "First Take" on Thursday. You can watch an excerpt of their conversation in the video above.
Kellerman asked Van Noy several questions about Tom Brady's play, which has been at the center of his anti-Patriot commentary over the past three seasons. What does Van Noy have to say about Kellerman's claim that the Pats had to defeat Brady by playing badly and winning the Super Bowl with their ground game and defense?
"I will take his wet noodle arm in any day," said Van Noy, referring to a previous take of Brady by Kellerman and others. "He is good at what he does, he is an excellent communicator, he excels in the orchestration of everyone and leads the offensive to the best of his ability with Josh McDaniels."
"So that he has on the other side with Sony and the other weapons we have at the receiver – we know it in defense, we just have to give him the ball." Any chance to get it back in his arm, we know that they will eventually score, and that's exactly what they did in the Super Bowl: we knew that if we did not stop, we knew they were going to score, and they finally did, and we won the match. "
Kellerman murmured facetiously in the middle of the following question from co-facilitator Molly Qerim: "It makes me sick." Van Noy laughed and looked at another guest, Sony Michel, and said, "He's so angry!"
Some other gems of the appearance of Van Noy and Michel on "First Take":
– On the "Haterade" billboard displayed by Elandon Roberts at the Super Bowl Patriots Parade in Boston: "I did not have this sign.If I had this sign, I would probably have thrown it in the trash, because it gives [Kellerman] too much credit. Because there are other people who probably deserve it more. I mean, yes, Rob Parker who should be transferred to Mexico now because he said we could not beat the Chiefs. There are some others. We just appreciate everyone who doubted us. Thank you, Max. "
– After being traded from Lions to Patriots in 2016: "I can finally play chess and not the ladies, baby."
– On Patrick Mahomes ahead of Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game: "We won the Super Bowl."
Van Noy had previously told Zolak and Bertrand that Kellerman should stick to boxing. Maybe he should stick to his Patriots' hot shots, if that means it will only motivate them further to win the Super Bowl BOOK.
