Repka played three years at Fiorentina in Italy and five years at West Ham United in London, as well as 46 times for his country.

But the 45-year-old has had many contacts with the police since his retirement in 2014.

Last year, he was sentenced to six months of suspended imprisonment after publishing an ad offering escort services featuring a picture of his ex-wife and his phone number.

The former defender was also arrested for driving drunk twice and sentenced last year to work of general interest for failing to pay child support.

The sale of the Mercedes, which he used for hire, was the last straw.

"Unfortunately, we have no choice but to impose a prison sentence," said Judge Alice Havlikova, rejecting a heavier sentence proposed by the prosecution.

He is appealing the sentence, said his lawyer.

Repka has collected 20 red cards during his career and was excluded from the Czech selection who qualified for the Euro 96 final after an international ban of two matches.
