Former President John Dramani Mahama and American Ambbadador to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan
Former President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday granted audience to the new American ambbadador to Ghana, Stephanie S. Sullivan, who invited her to officially run for office.
The two men discussed issues of common interest for Ghana and the United States and recounted their meeting many years ago, while Ambbadador Sullivan was political leader at the Embbady. from the United States, here in Accra.
Discussions included the recent violence and deployment of state-sponsored self-defense groups during the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon. The Ambbadador of the United States recalled that Ghana was a model of peace and security and called on President Mahama to continue to support efforts to maintain peace throughout the country.
President Mahama stressed the need to completely ban the formation and deployment of paramilitary political groups and self-defense groups such as those deployed by the ruling party last Thursday. He also badured the US government through the ambbadador of his commitment to peace and security.
