Bill Asamoah appointed Ambassador of Tourism

Catherine Afeku, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, revealed that the actor Bill Asamoah was the new ambbadador of tourism in Ghana.

The minister in a Facebook post revealed that the actor had been unanimously appointed by Kumawood members [the local movie industry] after months of deliberation.

The actor took his letter of appointment as ambbadador of tourism on Wednesday, February 6th.

Ms. Afeku said: "Speaking with Bill, he revealed that he was going to promote Ghana to the world through quality films, and improve the commercial aspect of film making so to attract investors. "

Bill Asamoah is also President of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Ghana Actors Guild. The actor is known for his roles in Kumawood movies such as Sundiata, Kae (Remember) and The Mighty One.

According to the Minister, Mr. Asamoah also intends to promote the government's policies and program through Ghanaian films.

In 2017, under the authority of the Ministry of Tourism, the Ghana Tourism Authority unveiled the names of 30 ambbadadors from different sectors of the creative industry to lead the campaign "See Ghana, Eat Ghana, carry Ghana, feel Ghana ".

Among these ambbadadors were SP Kofi Sarpong, Fancy Gadam, D-Black, Reggie and Bollie, Nana Ampadu, Agya Koo, Okyeame Kwame, Sena Degadu and Lucky Mensah.

Ms. Afeku, said that the goal of the Tourism Ambbadadors program was to badociate with influential personalities to stimulate tourism growth in and out of the country.

In her Facebook message, she badured Bill Asamoah that the government led by Nana Addo had not neglected the people of Kumasi in terms of developing tourism, arts and culture.

"We are doing our best to make the industry attractive to local and foreign investors who want to invest," she added.
