Visitors to The Establishment Hotel in Sydney, Australia, can now have access to an iPad 2 during their stay after the hotel has recently deployed one of the appliances in each of its 31 rooms. IPads are free to use and include a selection of movies and music, including the welcome video of the hotel. There is also a set of apps that provide access to international news in addition to travel guides and restaurant guides.
Justin Hemmes, CEO of Merivale, said the company was looking for ways to further integrate technology into its hotels:
Now that we have the material, we are limited only by our own imagination. Well, perhaps also by the capabilities of software developers, but seriously, we will look for ways to further integrate this technology into the entire guest.
In addition to the iPad, guests also have an AppleTV system and a surround sound system in their room, which allows them to enjoy the contents of the iPad on big screen via AirPlay. If I were not in Sydney, I would not leave the room!
