European players more considered than Africans – Partey

In a recent interview, Black Star shares his point of view on the subject of discrimination in European football

For the first time, the Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey, has tackled the delicate issue of discrimination in football in Europe, where he has been practicing since 2013.

The Ghanaian international is of the opinion that African players do not deserve the same consideration as their European friends.

Partey is not the first African professional to have raised the issue. Cameroonians like Samuel Eto'o and Yaya Toure, Ivorian nationals, have also expressed their concerns, deploring the situation.

"If we are compared to European players, it looks like they are more considered than African players," Partey told the Spanish international news agency EFE.

"We had very good players, like Yaya Toure, Michael Essien. They were considered good players, but not at the level to win a Golden Ball because they come from Africa, but they are the best players in Africa.

"We think of them as the" best "players, but not at the level of Modric, Messi or Ronaldo, but there were many good African players.

"Eto'o and Drogba scored a lot of goals and could have won the Golden Ball, but they did not succeed," he said.

The current Liberian president, George Weah, remains the only African winner of the Golden Ball he won in 1995 while playing for AC Milan.

Partey joined Atletico Madrid B in 2013 before joining the main team two years later.
