GITFIC Ghana Conference on International Trade and Finance

The Ghana Conference on International Trade and Finance (GITFIC), a subsidiary of Rescue Shipping and Investment Agency Limited, suggested that the 2019 African Conference on International Trade and Finance would be held in Ethiopia.

The conference aims to strengthen intra-African trade, regional integration and promote trade liberalization on the African continent, said Selasi Koffi Ackom, GITIC's Managing Director, at a conference on press conference in Accra.

The conference, scheduled for April 11 and 12 at the headquarters of the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, would attract business, leadership, policy makers and experts from sub-Saharan Africa.

Mr. Ackom explained that the two-day conference would provide a platform for industry players to present realistic solutions to trade, investment and funding opportunities. in Ghana.

He badured that policies and business practices in general would be reformed to improve possible trends in business.

"Following the commercial agreement between Africa and the new continent, the moment for Africa to badert on the international affairs stage must be considered as an economic and political emergency" , did he declare.

According to him, intra-regional trade accounted for only 11% of Africa's total trade according to the 2015 statistics, while the members of the European Union made more than 70% of it in the same year.

Ackom urged all industry players to participate in strengthening a continental force for economic stability, adding that all African Union member states should not hesitate to speed up the signing of the commercial agreement.

Mr. Regbada Kefale Ere, Ambbadador of Ethiopia to Ghana, explained that the Ethiopian woman was one of the fastest growing economies with a population of about 105 million and that they should be encouraged to other countries to expand their business activities with them.

He believed that trade on the continent would gain in relevance and overcome language and trade barriers among other problems.

Ere urged Ghanaian companies to consult with growing economies such as Ethiopia for commercial and economic strengthening purposes.
