The inhabitants of the extremely cold regions have been warned of a "boiling water problem" which consists in throwing a smoking liquid in the air to turn it into snow because of the reprimand of those who try it.
As a polar vortex gripped large areas of the United States, Chicago, so-called Chiberia, was so afflicted by low temperatures that people began filming this craze.
In some clips, people have been seen throwing water and then seeing it go down under the snow because it was very cold.
However, now people have been treated in burn treatment centers because they were not working and boiling water was falling on them, CNN reported.

Eight people have been treated at the Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago since last week, spokeswoman Chris Vicik said.
The feet, arms, hands and face were burned.
The centers of Iowa and Minneapolis have also seen people admitted.
Angie Whitley of Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis told CNN: "Some of them, parents or adults, go out with their kids to do it. Children get angry and interfering, and parents end up throwing water on children.
"Or, people throw it in the air just as a gust of wind comes in, and (the water) holds it back and pushes it away – so we see burning facial wounds resulting from this."
More than 40 cold records were broken in the United States last week.
Temperatures have dropped to -35 ° C in some areas, with cold being badociated with at least 12 deaths.
