GONZALO HIGUAIN has already shown how he will get the best of Eden Hazard for the rest of the campaign.
The Belgian had a wonderful season, but he had to either play alongside an attacker who did not complete it, or play out of position.
Higuain only played two games, but there was enough evidence in Huddersfield's 5-0 defeat to show what he was going to bring.
The Argentinean is the main man of Maurizio Sarri and his style of play should fit perfectly to Hazard and Chelsea.
Against Huddersfield, Hazard had 21 pbad combinations with Higuain.
The greatest success that he has achieved with anyone else this season has been 15 with Olivier Giroud.
Hazard is at his best starting from the left, joining an attacker closely and seeking to withdraw.
Alvaro Morata would seek to expand the game, which would mean that the Spaniard and Hazard would rarely be close enough to play one another.
And when Morata did not start, Sarri used Hazard as a fake.
Your best players have to play in their best positions and Higuain will bring out the best of Hazard.
While Morata was leading the line, Higuain – like Giroud – is more than happy to go down deep, seeking to create space for the others.
Hazard can then come into contact with Higuain, playing a nice double and trying to get behind the defense.
The two men have formed very good relationships in a short time – and it will be up to Fernandinho to disrupt them tomorrow at Etihad.
His role as midfielder is going to be very important – if he manages to keep those two players at rest, City will really want their chances.
He must be close enough and constantly talk to his supporters to make sure that Higuain is pbaded on to him so that they can stay in position.
It will be an intriguing battle and, if Higuain can take the best of the Brazilian, then Chelsea will be able to create the surprise.
