Sylvester Adinam Mensah, NDC flag bearer full of hope
Flag bearer hoping to participate in the upcoming presidential race of the National Democratic Congress, Sylvester Mensah said that it was extremely helpful to have more candidates to run the race.
He thinks that the more candidates there are, the less the influence of delegates by some candidates is considered the only option.
The NDC is a political party that allows people to get through the factory, learn and grow. So, when it's possible to argue for positions, the process must be open to interested people, he told Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm on the front line.
Mr Mensah said the party had a philosophy that favors the strengthening of the party's democratic powers and imbues members with the need to believe in such a philosophy.
It is useful for more candidates to compete for the race to prevent people from influencing candidates to vote for them.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will start examining presidential candidates starting today. [Tuesday].
The party also settled on February 23 as the day of primaries.
This follows an injunction of two party members against the electoral guidelines established for the primary.
The NDC finally agreed to declare its guidelines for the presidential primaries null and void after protests over transparency and filing fees that were reduced along the line.
In addition to agreeing to hold the elections in a free, fair and transparent manner, the party also agreed to consider the 300,000 GHc not only as filing fees, but also as a contribution to primary primary costs.
"Once the candidates have been selected by the selection committee, the register of voters will be presented to them," said Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, NDC national president, at a press conference.
The NDC will go to the polls to elect a presidential candidate on February 23, 2019.
The first poll will be available on January 26, 2019 and the final version will be printed on January 28, 2019.
The printing of the ballots will begin on February 3, before the election scheduled for February 23.
The party also announced 276 polling stations across the country; a derogation from the centralized voting system that has been much criticized for national executives.
Seven aspirants have filled their candidacies to participate in the primaries, including former president John Mahama, considered the favorite.
