Maxwell Ayinbiha Abelinkiira, the victim.
The suspect, Nsobila John, was brought to trial in Bolgatanga District Court on Friday for hurting Maxwell Ayinbiha Abelinkiira.
The court presided by His Honor Osman Hakim placed the suspect in custody. He is scheduled to appear again in court on February 26, 2019.
The incident, which occurred two years ago, the family told Pulse.com.gh, was settled by the family and police after the suspect had promised to pay the victim's medical bills.
The suspect will later escape the police, leaving the family responsible for Maxwell's medical bills.
The victim was burned after being accused of spying on a woman with her friends.
The victim, unlike his friends, could not escape because he was holding a gasoline can for which they had been sent.
The accuser was just a spectator at the time, he took the bottle of gasoline and poured it on her. Then, afterwards, set him on fire as punishment.
"The man had come to drink Pito. So when the woman shouted that we had taken a look to see her nakedness, he came over to me and asked me if it was me who did that, "Maxwell remembers.
"I told him that I was not that one, but rather the other two children who were running away."
But that did not stop the man from pouring gasoline and burning it.
He said that he kept shouting until spectators came to his rescue and accosted his badailant.
They insisted that the man take her to the hospital for treatment and was promptly handed over to the hospital police.
He was later released on bail by the police and the family was unable to locate him before his arrest on Friday.
