Manchester United gives new momentum to the Champions League as PSG striker gets injured

Manchester United has received a boost in the Champions League before their last game against Paris Saint-Germain (16), after the injury of Edinson Cavani.

The striker scored in the 42nd minute to allow PSG to overtake Bordeaux in Saturday's Ligue 1 match, but shortly thereafter he told the jury that he was injured.

Cavani left the field just before half-time, squeezing his thigh. After being badessed at the break, he was replaced at half-time by Kylian Mbappe. The Uruguayan striker has scored 20 goals in 24 games with PSG this season.

The extent of the injury is not clear at the moment, but that could be another blow for Thomas Tuchel before Tuesday's visit to Old Trafford for the first leg.

The Parisians are already without Neymar, who has a broken metatarsal, and if Cavani escapes Tuesday, it will leave Mbappe as the only able member of the trio of the much vaunted PSG.

Tuchel also has problems midfielder, but Marco Verratti played 59 minutes against Bordeaux with Dani Alves in the middle of the field. Rear-back Thomas Meunier was injured in the head and was eliminated 10 minutes from the end.
