Bruce Banner's love of life is back in the Hulk world.
SPOILERS for Hulk Immortal No. 13 Al Ewing, Joe Bennett, Jose Ruy and Paul Mounts follow.
Betty Ross was the love of Dr. Bruce Banner from before his transformation into a Hulk. This transformation has complicated things since Betty's father, Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, decided to arrest Hulk. Their relationship has only gotten complicated since then.
Over the years, Bruce and Betty have managed to make things work, at least for a while. They were married for a while, but this marriage was canceled when Betty was presumed dead and Hulk married a stranger. After the Abomination killed Betty, her father fell asleep in a cryogenic sleep and finally convinced AIM to resurrect her and turn her into Red She-Hulk.
On behalf of the Order of the Shield, Betty later ordered the badbadination of Bruce Banner before he became responsible for an event at the level of extinction. Hulk was cured by Extremis technology, effectively killing Banner but leaving Doc Hulk's new super-intelligent personality, Doc Green, active. Doc Green undertook to strip the many gamma-powered monster heroes that had appeared in the Marvel universe. He solicited Rick Jones' help to reduce Red She-Hulk's empowerment and returned it to Betty Ross.
Later, when Doc Green allowed Bruce Banner to reappear, Betty apologized. They separated at pleasant, even intimate conditions. When Hawkeye killed Bruce during Second civil warBetty was furious and asked her father to launch a revenge mission. She canceled those plans after hearing the tape recorded by Bruce before his death.
But now, Bruce and Hulk have reappeared in Hulk Immortal. Hulk went on a trip to hell and found out more where he really came from than Hulk. Back on Earth, he calls Betty and asks him to go home.
What is interesting is that this call takes place at night. Previously, Banner had declared that the night was Hulk's time. It seems that something has changed during this trip to hell. Maybe Betty can help Bruce understand.
