President Muhammadu Buhari said Saturday that his administration would recover all looted public funds and decisively attack the perpetrators of corruption. Buhari said, "Let me badure you that whoever stole our money, we will take it, we will take what they stole and we will imprison them. It is our duty and our responsibility, we will do it. ''
Buhari made the statement in Lagos speaking at the presidential gathering of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
New men reports that the rally drew a gigantic crowd of party followers, who rallied by the thousands to greet the president.
A national party leader, Chief Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; National President APC, Mr. Adams Oshiomole; The Minister of Public Works, Energy and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, and the Minister of Transport, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, were with the President at the rally.
Governors Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos, Ibikunle Amosun (Oyo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) were among government and party personalities.
Buhari said his government's fight against corruption was total and irreversible, claiming that no treasure pillar would escape justice.
"Let me badure you that whoever stole our money will take it, we will take it and steal it and keep it in jail. It's our duty and our responsibility, we'll do it, "he said.
The president also promised that his government would continue to make progress in his campaign promises, if he was re-elected.
He added that more achievements would be recorded in the areas of security, the economy and the fight against corruption.
Buhari said the All Progressive Congress (APC) was the only party that had their interests at heart and urged them to maintain confidence in the party during the February and March polls.
He thanked the participants at the rally for their patience and for defying the heat of participating in the program.
The president badured residents and all Nigerians of his commitment to a better Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said the APC was committed to the Nigerian project and urged voters to reject the Democratic People's Party (PDP) in the polls.
Osinbajo, who spoke at the rally in Yoruba, said the APC would make further progress in job creation, infrastructure development and electricity generation, if it was re-elected.
The vice president also said that the current administration would maintain the pace of investment in rail infrastructure, if elected.
He said the PDP had almost ransacked the country during its 16 years of power and that the APC was repairing the damage.
Osinbajo added that Nigerians could vouch for Buhari's integrity, adding that "even his enemies know that he's not a thief".
He urged the people of Lagos to show themselves in mbad to vote for APC on February 16 and March 2.
Earlier, Oshiomole, Tinubu, Amaechi, Fashola and Ambode, among others, also spoke at the rally.
The NAN reports that APC flags were presented to the governor, candidates for federal legislation and states in the state at the rally. (NOPE)
