London (CNN) – British rapper Cadet was killed in a car accident in the West Midlands English region on Saturday, police said.

Blaine Johnson, 28, his real name, was then summoned for a concert at Keele University Staffordshire, reported the British press agency Press Association.

A statement on Cadet's Instagram page, quoted by PA, said: "We, Blaine Cameron Johnson's family, known as Cadet (underrated legend), would like to share the sad news that in the early morning of February 9, 2019, he died as a pbadenger. by taxi, en route for a performance.

"For the moment, our family appreciates your patience and will share with you any information to the extent possible. Thank you in advance for your support.

Staffordshire police said the rapper died at the scene after a collision between a taxi and a van in the village of Betley. Police investigate what led to the accident.

The Keele Students' Union said he was "deeply saddened by the tragic announcement of Cadet's death en route to Keele" and offered his condolences to his loved ones.

The other artists paid homage to Cadet, a native of South London, who had already supported the London-based rap duo Krept And Konan on tour.

Example: he had only spoken to him last week about the festivals he was going to play this summer.

"So much positive energy. Smiling without stopping when I was with you, during our first meeting, I had the impression to know you all my life. Crazy humble guy. RIP Cadet.

DJ Semtex said that he was on stage with Cadet last week and could not believe the news.

"I have never seen a man so happy. Everything worked for him. It was going to be his year. We were on the best time to do an interview on his next single, "he tweeted.

The cadets were scheduled to perform at the Wireless Festival in London in July. The organizers of the festival were saddened by the announcement of his death.

"We will keep his Wireless performance as a time to reflect on Blaine's memory," said the official Twitter feed of the festival.
