Tesla Model 3 now enters the European market and makes some car manufacturers nervous. According to a new report, Porsche and Audi reversed Tesla's new electric car and were quite surprised by its cost.

Model 3 seems to fit the description, as it is apparently selling better than all other luxury sedans combined in the United States.
At the start of production, it was difficult to get a model 3, but some manufacturers paid a nice dime to be among the first to test the new electric car.
About a year ago, two Model 3 vehicles were spotted en route to Germany, probably to be reversed.
Later, a report was published on a German manufacturer who had been impressed by the model 3 after redesigning it.
A new report published by the German magazine Magazin (German and paywall) thoroughly describes the state of Audi with comments from leaders and preferred sources.
He says Porsche and Audi, working together on a new-generation electric platform, had to change their approach because the cost was too much compared to what Tesla is doing.

"Porsche and Audi engineers need to change [the PPE] because Tesla's Model 3 has become better than they thought. "
The next-generation platform called Premium Platform Electric (EPP) was approved nearly two years ago and is expected to be ready by 2020 or 2021.
According to the new report, the first version would cost around € 3,000, which Porsche would have been able to absorb, but Audi was not on board. They believe they must reduce costs to be competitive compared to other electric vehicles ahead.
The cost of battery cells is apparently the most important factor driving the cost of the platform upward and Tesla claims to be leading the industry in this area.

The e-tron electric SUV was to be delivered to customers last year, but according to Audi, software problems have resulted in delays.
The German manufacturer is still considering several other vehicles based on the same platform before EPI is available.

We often hear complaints that Tesla is not yet offering the basic version of Model 3 at $ 35,000, which I think is fair, but we must always recognize that Tesla is the only manufacturer to mbad-produce an imposing EV long-range and to make it profitable. .
I think that's what impresses here at Audi and Porsche and what they want to emulate with the EPP platform.
In 10 years, I think we will not only look at Model 3 to explain how the vehicle program has accelerated EV adoption by volume, but also for its impact on other manufacturers.
The fact that they apparently have 3,000 euros late on a platform coming in two years shows how far Tesla is.
With regard to the e-tron program, the report is worrying. I'm a little behind the delays for the SUV e-tron, but I'd like to see some volume soon.
