Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia was sworn in before the three-member committee investigating violence in Ayawaso West Wuogon.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at Jubilee House on Friday, Dr. Bawumia said no one could "question the integrity of the people who were here the Commission."

According to him, "all the necessary logistical arrangements will be provided for your work to proceed impartially".

He said: "As you all know, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has decided that, in the public interest, this commission of inquiry would be created in such a way that A true, faithful and impartial incident occurred in the by-election of Ayawaso West Wuogon. In doing so, the President has had to look for people of irreproachable integrity and that is why the composition of the Commission is as it is, "he added.

In the meantime, the commission has one month to present its report.

The government set up Thursday an investigative commission to investigate the violence that occurred during the by – election in the constituency of Ayawaso West Wuogon on January 31, 2019.

The commission, composed of three members, is chaired by Judge Emile Short, and includes Professors Henrietta Mensah-Bonsu and Patrick K. Acheampong.
