Health officials in Salem are monitoring a suspected case of measles, the Marion County Health Department said Saturday.

It is currently unclear whether the suspect case is related to the measles epidemic in the Vancouver and Portland area and has left more than 50 people sick, mostly unvaccinated children.

Officials said lab results are expected later this weekend.

Most people in Oregon have been vaccinated against measles and are not at risk. Those with questions can call the state's measles information line at 211 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day including weekends.
