A woman and a child were killed in a fire in Lyon in the east of the country, allegedly caused by a gas explosion in a bakery, authorities said.

The fire comes a few days after 10 people were killed in a fire in a Parisian building and a month after a huge gas explosion in the center of the capital that killed four people in a building that also houses a bakery.

The fire in Lyon broke out Saturday night after the explosion in the bakery located on the ground floor of the two-story building.

"Two bodies have been found, that of a woman and a child," said the Lyon public prosecutor, Nicolas Jacquet, adding that the police were investigating the cause of the fire .

Witnesses told AFP that a man who had been slightly injured after jumping from the second floor had told the fire department that his pregnant wife and child were still inside. Three pbadersby were also slightly injured.

"Blue flames several meters high rose from the bakery and swallowed the upper floors," said AFP Chahine Reghi, a man living on the other side of the street.

The hell of Tuesday in Paris was launched by a resident suffering from psychological disorders, said investigators. The suspect, who is in her 40s, has been charged with a fire, the deadliest in the city for more than a decade.
