Turkish doctors have treated more than 700 people in Chad, a humanitarian group said Saturday.
Ahmet Fatih Ceyhan, project coordinator of the Yeryuzu Doktorlari Association (YDD), said two pediatricians, a family doctor and a dentist had performed a medical examination of 580 students and 140 staff members from a school of medicine. the capital N'Djamena.
The school is run by the Turkish Maarif Foundation.
The volunteer doctors badociated with this Istanbul-based humanitarian organization have applied medical tests such as hepatitis B, C, HIV and syphilis to school staff.
He added that they would provide medical treatment to people facing health problems.
Ceylan said that a mobile dental unit had been brought from Turkey to allow dental cleanings, fillings and extractions.
"The project is not limited to Chad," he added, noting that the aid agency "would conduct medical screening in Maarif schools in 10 countries by 2019."
YDD provides health services in approximately 50 countries and employs more than 20,000 volunteers worldwide.
Turkey created the Maarif Foundation in 2016 to take over the administration of foreign schools related to FETO. The foundation has taken control of many schools previously managed by the FETO in the world, including at least 32 in Africa, according to the Turkish Ministry of Education.
FETO and its US-based chief, Fetullah Gulen, orchestrated the 15 July 2016 defeated coup in Turkey, killing 251 people and injuring nearly 2,200 others.
Ankara also accused FETO of being behind a lengthy campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the army, the police and the judicial system.
