A school district in eastern Mississippi is canceling clbades because of the flu.
The Meridian Star reports that Kemper County closes its schools Monday and Tuesday because of the disease. The county is located on the Mississippi-Alabama line.
According to Superintendent Jackie Pollock, 100 students with flu symptoms have been absent from elementary and secondary schools in the past week. Pollock says the closures will allow students to rest and consult doctors.
Other state districts have also closed or taken steps to prevent the spread of influenza.
