Jack Ziebell has been confirmed captain of North Melbourne for a third season.
The 28-year-old took over from Andrew Swallow in 2017 and was re-elected as a leader by his peers in the pre-season.
"You never take a role like this in a football club as great as ours, it's acquired," Ziebell told North Media.
"It's always an honor and especially this season, on the occasion of our 150th anniversary as a football club."
Ziebell is backed by Robbie Tarrant (vice-captain), Jamie Macmillan and Shaun Higgins, who form a four-person leadership group.
Ziebell has had a difficult initiation with the last two seasons going from one extreme to the other.
"In my first year, we had a difficult time as a relatively inexperienced group," he said.
"We only had six wins, which often forced us to block out the noise and make sure we stayed optimistic and positive while realizing what we wanted to achieve.
"In 2018, we exceeded all expectations, but ours, and although we recognized that we still had a lot of work to do, we really showed that our team was on the right track and we were building something really special. "
In her third season at the helm, Ziebell sees things in a big way.
"We have never capped expectations here, and I really think this team is able to compete in the finals," he said.
"Our midfielder has been significantly improved in the off-season and, with some terrific player acquisitions, recruits and the organic growth we will get from those already on our list, it will be an exciting year.
"We have an excellent base of supporters and really hope that they will support us this season."
