Reinforcing its commitment to expand its presence on the continent, Marriott International has announced the signing of three new contracts in North and West Africa. The new contracts signed highlight the growth of the company in Morocco and Ghana, while marking its debut in Liberia.

"New and established markets in North and West Africa continue to offer us tremendous opportunities to enhance and diversify our portfolio on the continent," said Jerome Briet, Director of Development for the Middle East and North America. Africa at Marriott International.

"The new agreements we have signed further reinforce our strong development portfolio as a result of our long-standing presence in Africa and the owners' trust in Marriott International and our attractive portfolio of brands."

Here are the three new hotels announced:

The St Regis Marrakech Resort

Marriott International's luxury brand portfolio in Morocco is expected to expand further with the signing of the St Regis Marrakech Resort. The property will be part of the Assoufid Golf Resort and will include 80 rooms and villas, all offering views of the Atlas Mountains. It will also feature six dining experiences, including the St Regis bar inspired by King Cole Bar at the brand's flagship New York.

Scheduled to open in 2024The station is owned by Assoufid Properties Development SA and was developed by United Real Estate Company (URC), part of the Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO) group of companies.

Residence Inn by Marriott Accra Kotoka Airport

The signature of the Residence Inn by Marriott Airport Accra Kotoka marks the debut of the brand's extended stays in the country.

Should open in 2023the 12-story hotel will feature 160 suites with separate living, working and sleeping areas, all with fully functional kitchens. The hotel's other facilities will include three food and beverage outlets, including a rooftop bar, a health and recreation club and a boardroom.

A franchise property, the hotel will be managed by Yamusah Hotels Management Company Limited, owner and developer of the property.

Four Points by Sheraton Monrovia

Marriott International will make its debut in Liberia with the Four Points by Sheraton Monrovia.

Opening planned in 2020The hotel will feature 111 rooms and four dining establishments, including a rooftop bar, a lounge and a specialty restaurant. The hotel will be in the heart of Monrovia's central business district, close to key government and ministerial buildings, diplomatic offices and the University of Liberia.

Four Points by Sheraton Monrovia is a franchise property owned by Sea Suites Hotel LLC and will be managed by Aleph Hospitality.

The regions of North and West Africa play a central role in Marriott International's overall growth strategy for the continent. The company is in the process of extending its footprint in Africa to 200 hotels by the end of the year 2023.
