NBCUniversal's César Conde joins Walmart's Board of Directors – Variety

NBCUniversal International Group President Cesar Conde has been appointed to the Walmart Board of Directors.

Conde is currently the only entertainment executive on the board of directors of the retail giant. His appointment brings the Walmart Board of Directors to 12 members. Walmart has progressively expanded its media and entertainment operations through its Vudu streaming platform and its investments in content projects, including Eko Interactive.

Conde oversees NBCUniversal's operations outside of North America and is president of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, which directs the company's efforts to reach Hispanic consumers. He also sits on the executive committee of NBCUniversal and reports to CEO Steve Burke.

"Cesar has strong skills as a global leader and brand management, finance, digital and media expertise that will complement the experience of our board of directors," said Greg Penner. Chairman of the Walmart Board of Directors. "We look forward to his strategic ideas as we continue to drive Walmart's transformation to better serve customers and win in an omni-channel world."

Conde joined NBCUniversal in 2013 after 10 years with Telivundo, his rival Univision. At present, he also sits on the PepsiCo Board of Directors.

"Today's consumer landscape is changing and I believe Walmart's unique strengths enable society to cope with the changing demographics of the world," said Conde. "I look forward to working with the board and management team to help guide the company's strategic plans and continue to grow."
