The defender thinks Chelsea have a bright future, but do not think youth will be the club's only center on the transfer market.

Alaba sees this as a natural progression for Salihamidzic and approves of the work he is doing, confident that the sporting director's experience as a player has given him a solid foundation.

"In his first season, he had something else to do," said Alaba. "It's now a kind of routine for him and he has to deal with more and more tasks.He does a very good job and is doing very well.
"The communication between him and us is very regular.He knows when he has to intervene.If he has something to say, he approaches the players and looks for a conversation.
"You realize that he has experience [as a player]. He can very well see things from the point of view of a player. "
