Comedy Central portrays "the world's favorite layman puppets" for a new wave of telephone terrorism. Yankers Crank, which aired originally between 2002 and 2007, returns for a revival of 20 episodes, announced Monday the channel during the press tour of the Television Critics Association in Pasadena.
For the (fortunately) uninitiated, Yankers Crank It was a rude 30-minute show in which jokes composed of Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel, Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes and Biz Marke were animated by the magic of puppets.
According to Comedy Central, the new Yankers Crank will be "updated for a digitally trained audience. [The puppets will be] jokes on phones, social media, electronic sports platforms and any place that could cause trouble. The revival will be the first project under the Kimmel production banner, Kimmelot. His brother, Jonathan Kimmel, will act as a showrunner and will perform alongside Carolla, Kimmel and Daniel Kellison.
"Yankers Crank has always been my favorite series, "says Kimmel. Nothing is more fun or laughter than a good crank and I'm glad Comedy Central has asked us to do it again, "said Jimmy Kimmel. "At this point, I would like to ask all Americans to disable their caller ID. Thank you."
