Liverpool's unwelcome statistic, Gini Wijnaldum, is over against Bournemouth in the Premier League

Gini Wijnaldum was the man of the Liverpool match on Saturday when his home team defeated Bournemouth 3-0.

The Dutchman scored a delightful lob on Artur Boruc's header in the first period, but the goal was special for another reason.

The goal ended a series of six Premier League games where no player outside the famous Liverpool trio managed to score.

This was the second goal of the season for Wijnaldum and was an impressive performance for the midfielder who returned to training after the illness.

Up to the Bournemouth match, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, Liverpool's offensive trio, Mohamed Salah, had scored 13 goals in six games.

The last outfield player to score, with the exception of Salah, Firmino and Mane, was Fabinho against the former Wijnaldum club, Newcastle United, during Boxing Day.

Since Fabinho's goal and before the Wijnaldum chip, the three strikers had scored each goal of the Premier League for Liverpool in 2019.

Jurgen Klopp could be worried about this statistic, especially as the rivals of the title, Manchester City, have certainly benefited from a multitude of scorers this year.

In their last seven Premier League games, City has scored 20 goals. Aside from a goal against him, conceded by Wolves player Conor Coady, seven City players added their names to the scoresheet at least once.

The Reds would undoubtedly benefit from the goals scored by a multitude of outside field players in the title race.

But the boss of Liverpool will know that the main priority of his team will be that goals are scored and games won.
