Aspirant Flag Bearer, Sylvester Mensah
A meeting between delegates from the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a flag bearer, Sylvester Mensah, in Suame, a suburb of Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, was tainted Monday by shots.
The incident occurred at the Tafo Community Center in the former Tafo municipality in the Ashanti region.
It is not clear who fired the shots or why he did it.
However, the chairman of the suspended party in the Suame constituency, Mr. Saeed Omar Shaban, accused the former regional party organizer, Ashanti, Mr. Yaw Brogya Genfi, of being at the origin violence.
He added that four constituency officials approached him and asked him to hand him a festive car in his possession.
Shaban told Elisha Adarkwah of Kumasi FM that his attackers punched him, which would have been shot.
Mr. Genfi, however, denied the allegation.
