Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central
MEPs will determine tomorrow (Wednesday) the fate of MP (MP) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Assin Central, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, on the verge of knowing he is in defiance of Parliament for supposedly having despised remarks of Parliament.
If the House determines that it is guilty of contempt of Parliament, it could be reprimanded or suspended.
The Privileges Committee, which investigated Mr. Agyapong's allegation, concluded that "Mr. Agyapong is in fact an affront to Parliament for what he said, namely that" Parliament is cheap "and that" Parliament is useless ".
In its report tabled in Parliament at the second sitting of the Second Session of the Seventh Parliament, the Committee concluded that it had carefully considered the matter in the light of the totality of the evidence and in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, the Regulations and other relevant texts.
Accordingly, he recommended to the Assembly to adopt his report and to punish Mr. Agyapong by suspending him for the remainder of the session or reprimanding him.
When asked to present the committee's report (Tuesday), the chair of the Privilege Committee, Mr. Joseph Osei-Owusu, stated that once another contempt case had been committed against Mr. Agyapong, the committee would like to complete its investigation and present the two reports together.
The other investigation concerns the alleged public incitement of Mr. Agyapong to reprimand the murdered journalists, Mr. Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
But the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Michael Oquaye, did not subscribe to this suggestion and indicated that once the first report has been prepared, it should be presented.
The conclusion is that the committee will present its report on the first survey to Parliament tomorrow (Wednesday).

Alhaji Muntaka indicated that the alleged remarks amounted to contempt of Parliament under Rule 28, and requested the Chair to refer Mr. Agyapong's conduct to the Privileges Committee for investigation and report.
Pursuant to Rule 164 (2), the complaint was referred to the Privileges Committee for investigation and report.
