Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, NDC flag-bearer full of hope
Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, aspiring to the presidency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), sued the Inspector General of Police, National Security and his Attorney General for the violence that characterized the country's by-election. Ayawaso West Wuogon.
The respondent claims, among other things, a statement that the Department of National Security is held responsible for acts of violence in the by-election and a compensation order for victims.
Mr Spio-Gabrah also requests a statement that the police service "did not resist the invasion of these unknown masked gunmen, who stormed the public polling stations for create violence ".
A shootout near the voting center in La Bawaleshie temporarily disrupted the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon and left at least 13 injured.
The government subsequently set up an investigation commission to investigate the incident, but many suggested that this was unnecessary.
Kwesi Aning, a security badyst, is one of the many people who described the approach as useless, saying it was a clear sign of weak institutions and public agencies in the country.
Dr. Anning stated that the commission's investigation would not yield any positive results if self-defense groups are not disbanded.
