Young people in the southern Salaga constituency are angry after the quote from Damango as regional capital of the new Savanna region.

The office of the new ruling Patriotic Party in the constituency was set on fire on Tuesday night.

"The place is burning, people are throwing rocks and all kinds of things," eyewitness told Joy News.

Protesters, unhappy with President Nana Akufo-Addo's announcement Tuesday, said Salaga deserved to be the regional capital.

They claimed that the residents of South Salaga had trusted the New Patriotic Party by voting for the party's parliamentary candidate, Salifu Adam Braimah.

They say the choice of Damongo who voted for a candidate NDC Adam Mutawakilu does not reward people's trust in the NPP.

The roof, refrigerators, widows, satellite dish and computers are among the many damages caused by the fire.

Although the police are present "they can not do anything". The angry young people thwarted firefighters' attempts on the scene to fight the flames.

The eyewitness stated that angry youth brought axes to demolish the building.

The security apparatus has been paralyzed by the actions of young people who have a busy day to express their anger.
