Nicholas Hoult finds a scholarship in the role of J.R.R. Tolkien / Film

J.R.R. Tolkien is one of the most loved and respected authors of all time. Through his creation of the fantasy world known as Middle-earth, Tolkien offered the reader a series of epic adventures in The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion and more. As we all know, many of Tolkien's books have become major films, but now the man himself will see his story told on the big screen.

Tolkien is a new biopic from Fox Searchlight to watch Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First clbad, hot body) as the titular author. The first trailer has arrived and it looks like it's Tolkien's own video. Find Neverland, mixing the biographical elements of his life with flashes on the fantastic worlds in which the author is apparently imagined.

Even if it's a teaser, the first images and the voice-over hammy do not inspire much confidence. The mere mention of "comradeship" at the very beginning of the game makes us fear that it will be full of unusual references to characters and places from Tolkien's most famous works. I would not be surprised if a small, furry man became Tolkien's friend, and needed to be thrown out of danger for whatever reason. Or maybe Tolkien is trying to ask one of his teachers for a pbad for the room, and they say, "You will not get a pbad." You know, the Good product.

Lily Collins also stars in Tolkien Edith Bratt, who will eventually become the woman and the muse of the author. Edith has inspired the characters of Tolkien, Lúthien Tinúviel and Arwen Evenstar, both of Middle-earth. Otherwise, the rest of the distribution includes Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O'Reilly, Pam Ferris and Derek Jacobi.

Finnish filmmaker Karukoski Dome is behind the camera for his first big Hollywood movie, and the script comes from David Gleeson (Do not leave) and Stephen Beresford (Pride). Will it be a biopic worthy of Tolkien's greatness? Or will forced fantasy elements do him a disservice?

Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author, who finds friendship, love, and artistic inspiration among a group of outcasts at school. This leads to the outbreak of the First World War, which threatens to tear the "community". All these experiences would encourage Tolkien to write his famous novels of Middle-earth.

Tolkien arrives in theaters on May 10, 2019.
