In total, 31 people hospitalized for influenza died in the Czech Republic earlier this year at the end of last week, according to Trend reports citing Xinhua according to data from the National Institute of Public Health ( SZU) published.
The death toll for the past week alone is 16, the SZU said, adding that the flu was still developing in the country.
In addition, 184 people in total had to be hospitalized in intensive care units because of a serious course of the disease.
An outbreak of influenza is reported in the Czech Republic if there are approximately 1,500 influenza patients per 100,000 population. Last week, this number rose to 1,758 flu patients per 100,000 population
