Man Utd 0-2 PSG: Kylian Mbappe shines in the Champions League win, Paul Pogba expelled | Football | sport

[ad_1]

Angel Di Maria has stood at the height of the situation, amid jokes, to provide outstanding help to Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe in a comfortable 2-0 first leg victory for visitors.

As if the men of Solskjaer were not already facing a mountain on March 6th, Pogba will miss the trip to the French capital after recording a second late booking to hurt Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.

PSG failed to score in the first half and United held on well before giving in while Di Maria denounced the mistreatment of former teammates and supporters.

He helped Thomas Tuchel's team to qualify as Kimpembe returned home to make a great corner kick in the 53rd minute.

Di Maria's pbad was then swept by Mbappe six minutes later to let United go in force, with David De Gea making some nice saves to prevent their difficult task in France from becoming impossible.

But the second yellow card after Pogba's death may have tipped the scales.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Young, Shaw, Bailly, Lindelof, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Martial, Rashford

GSP XI: Buffon, Kehrer, Thiago Silva, Kimpembe, Bernat, Marquinhos, Verratti, Daniel Alves, Draxler, Di Maria and Mbappe.

  • Kylian Mbappe catches a second with a clinical finish

10:27 p.m.: Kylian Mbappe: "We're bored because we could have scored a 3rd, I think with a 3rd it would have been over, I'm going to prepare to score another in the second leg!"

Stay on, Kylian.

"We must learn"

10:20 p.m.: Ole Gunner Solskjaer, Manchester United coach, at BT Sport: "They had the momentum after the first goal and controlled the game." You can see we had not played at this level for a while and we will have to learn it was an experience. who can do without one or the other way, it is not going to be a season that defines one, it is a period on which we must learn.

"Injuries?" "You can not say that's a reason we had quality players but Lingard and Martial gave us something and hope they're not too serious." These are muscle injuries we have to wait a few days. "

"Paul Pogba tries to pbad his body and Dani Alves is smart enough to put his foot in. Paul wants to protect the ball, he is unlucky.

"The mountains are here to be climbed, you can not go to sleep and say it 's over, we' ll go there, play our game and get better from today. It is today a reality test for us. "

blunt

10:15 p.m.: Manchester United has managed only one goal at PSG tonight, its lowest in a Champions League match at Old Trafford since February 2005 in Milan, the last 16 against the runner-up runner-up (also 1).

The Red Devils were just not up to the challenge tonight. Rather a surprise considering their recent form of Premier League.

Angel Di Maria …

Updates from our journalist Uche Amako.

10:13 pm: Angel Di Maria told Manchester United fans "f ** off" after his corner led PSG out of the stalemate at Old Trafford.

During PSG celebrations, Di Maria turned to fans of Manchester United and reprimanded them.

And the pictures seemed to show Di Maria saying "f *** off" several times.

Not now, Mario!

10:10 p.m.: Former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli wasted no time dragging Manchester United.

He went on Twitter to post a video of PSG supporters signing "Ole" right after the expulsion of Paul Pogba. We can also hear him laugh.

A bit hard is not it Mario? Why always you!

& # 39; Verification of reality & # 39;

10:05 p.m.: Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "It's a reality for this United team, it's not a bad thing, it's something to learn." During this term, Ole Gunner Solskjaer was probably prepared for this defeat.

"But tonight they did not show any offense, they did not escape the players. That PSG team, without two of their best attacking players, escaped."

Not: Kimpembe should not have been on the field when he scored, but the referee seemed to grant him a blatant amnesty on the Old Trafford pitch. Euro refs. It's like giving European teams a head start.

Ant: verification of reality for Solskjaer. It was men against boys. United even created a chance? He should still have the job.

10:03 p.m.: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer genre hides his emotions. He looks devastated by the loss as he approaches to cheer Manchester United supporters still in the stadium.

Hard to swallow for the interim manager. We will hear his thoughts shortly. Stay tuned.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-2 PSG

FT: Not the night everyone was waiting for. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered his first defeat as manager of Manchester United.

The Red Devils face a huge task in Paris.

92: Pogba is the first United player to receive a red card in the knockout stages of the Champions League since Nani against Real Madrid in the last first leg in March 2013.

90: Luke Shaw showed a yellow. Four minutes of extra time here at Old Trafford – it is essential that hosts not concede a third.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-2 PSG | RED CARD

89: Paul Pogba has been sent off! The Frenchman arrives late with a dangerous challenge and the referee Daniele Orsato shows him a second yellow card.

There was crazy confusion because the referee seemed to show the card to Ashley Young instead. Everyone thought that the back of Manchester United had been fired for dissent – but Pogba eventually left the field.

88: Ander Herrera had reserved to cut the ankles of Kylian Mbappe. He pleads his innocence but she falls in the ear of a deaf man. It becomes the eighth reservation of the evening.

Manchester United vs PSG: Champions League Score, goals and latest updates

85: Alexis Sanchez has been incredibly insignificant since joining Manchester United. Let's see if Romelu Lukaku can do anything in the seven minutes allotted to him. The Belgian is for Marcus Rashford.

83: Ander Herrera fears his chances from far and goes to 20 yards from the post. Not a terrible effort.

80: Ashley Young manages to sneak onto the right flank before throwing a ball into the net. No red shirts there to apply the finish.

Angel Di Maria goes to an incredibly strong choir, replaced by Colin Dagba. Colin? Seriously? Ok, he's a defender.

77: Just to keep you informed, Roma will lead Porto 2-1 in the other clashes of the Champions League tonight. Nicolo Zaniolo with a splint.

Nothing good coming from Manchester United. Surprised enough to see Romelu Lukaku still sitting firmly on the bench.

74: PSG changes things by signing Leandro Peredes, who signs in January, meets Marco Verratti.

69: save! De Gea made his umpteenth save of the half to deny Bernat, who was slipped inside by Mbappe.

68: PSG had eight shots in this half. They had zero in the first half. Could the injuries of Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial be responsible?

65: As you can see in the picture – Angel Di Maria used this bottle wisely. Argentina took the bottle of beer and pretended to have a sip.

I think he will not have a good reception in the first leg …

63: David de Gea to the rescue! Manchester United are everywhere and could easily have scored three goals.

Kylian Mbappe has several acres of space to penetrate to the interior, but De Gea picks up his finish.

60: Could this be the goal that eliminates Manchester United from the Champions League?

Kylian Mbappe between Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof to make a beautiful center of Angel di Maria.

Brutal clinical tricks of the champions of France.

57: Uh-Oh! Angel di Maria trots in a corner and seems to be thrown a bottle in his direction. I'm sure it will be done after the match.

55: Almost a second. Manchester United must stick together because he is likely to lose.

David de Gea hits a corner for Dani Alves, whose volley deflected deflects off the post.

54: Presnel Kimpembe is the eighth different player to score for PSG in the Champions League this season. no other side had more (to the exclusion of its own goals).

53: Angel di Maria was not kind to his celebration. He's shouting something to the Manchester United crowd. It did not look very friendly and I think you can probably imagine what he said.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-1 PSG | KIMPEMBE

53: Presnel Kimpembe made the breakthrough!

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 PSG

45: Well, it's a hell of a kick for Romelu Lukaku, is not it? I would have expected OGS to send Marcus Rasford away and bring the big Belgian forward.

HT: Level at the break. Honors even after a rather quiet first half at Old Trafford.

47: I thought United would wait until half-time – but Jesse Lingard can not continue. The English international is replaced by Alexis Sanchez with 60 seconds of remaining stopping time.

45: It's like saving Private Ryan here. Draxler, Di Maria and Martial have all had badfeeding problems – and now Lingard is under treatment.

He hangs out. I imagine that it will be evaluated at the break.

43: It should be mentioned that Anthony Martial fell tight on his hamstring a few moments ago. Sanchez started to warm up but the Frenchman seems to have recovered.

42: Crash! Stroke! Stroke! Which video! Ashley Young nudges Angel di Maria and Argentina flies off the Old Trafford pontoon and heads for the metal fence.

Congratulations United, painful expression of Di Maria.

39: Oh my days. It's quite embarrbading.

Angel Di Maria thinks he broke the offside trap. He bypbades David de Gea, but dribbles slightly a shot towards the goal that De Gea recovers. It turns out that Di Maria was offside.

38: OK, I'll say it. It was not great. There is a lot of heart but the quality is low. Far too low with so many international superstars on the ground.

35: We are going to have a red card tonight. Absolutely no doubt in my mind.

The referee Daniele Orsato shows his FIFTH yellow card of the evening while Bernat drops his back leg on Ashley Young.

33: An absolutely overwhelming fault of Ashley Young on Kylian Mbappe. 10/10. The French lights the burners and forces Young to a cynical challenge. He booked but the free kick is mediocre.

Manchester United vs PSG: Champions League Score, goals and latest updates

Manchester United vs PSG: Champions League Score, goals and latest updates (Image: REUTERS)

30: Draxler opens Manchester United for the first time tonight with a beautiful ball in Mbappe, who can only let his shot away from goal.

The replays show that the Frenchman was offside. I imagine that VAR would have canceled it if Mbappe had scored.

29: Referee Orsato likes yellow card from blimin. He has now booked for Paul Pogba for firing on Verratti's shirt. It would not have been a Premier League reservation, I badure you.

Luck! Verratti is close to a howler when he is in possession of the ball, Marcus Rashford sniffing. The Italian turns to the goal and prays for contact … Fortunately for him, it comes.

26: PSG was not great. They are only sleepwalking.

They can obviously use the absence of key players as an excuse – but they did the same against Liverpool at Anfield in the group stage.

24: reserved! Ander Herrera is a cunning guy and draws Draxler into a clumsy foul. He is the second PSG player to be booked tonight.

22: Manchester's time has arrived. What a surprise as rain begins to fall at Old Trafford.

21: Manchester United is setting fire to the powder!

Ashley Young sends a superb curling ball into the penalty area where Kimpembe manages to escape the corner. Deleted.

18: Paul Pogba shows magic. The midfielder pbades Kimpembe before stepping on the baseline and making a cross in the penalty area. Buffon is gathering.

16: No real chance, but there is a lot of entertainment. PSG fans, as at Anfield earlier this season, are well heard.

13: reserved! Presnel Kimpembe, who, according to Arsene Wenger, would be the weakness of PSG tonight, cynically knocked Marcus Rashford. Referee Daniele Orsato shows him a yellow.

ten: A fairly busy opening, ten minutes here at Old Trafford. Both parties have several acres of space to attack.

To close! Marcus Rashford's center is deflected and seems to be heading towards the near post until Gianluigi Buffon bows away.

8: Wooosh! Now, that would have annoyed the fans of United. PSG has far too much space and Di Maria takes advantage of it with a violent shot from distance. Just off the post office far away.

5: Boos for Angel Di Maria? I guess I understand all the dynamics of the ex-players, but I do not know how he won them.

3: Jesse Lingard releases blocks like Usain Bolt! He presses Kimpembe for a lost cause and forces the blame. The PSG defender pretty much clears, but it's a very disturbing / positive sign indeed.

However, I will praise the PSG for its beautiful white kit. Like.

RIP Gordon Banks

7:35 p.m.: The English goalkeeper, Gordon Banks, winner of the World Cup, has died at 81 years old. His team mate in 1966, Sir Bobby Charlton, was at the head of this tribute.

Banks, who revealed in 2016 that he was fighting kidney cancer for the second time, died peacefully overnight.

Charlton said on the Manchester United Twitter account: "Gordon was a fantastic goalkeeper and I was proud to call him teammate.

"He will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his family at this very sad moment."

In addition to his role in England's triumph at Wembley, Banks will be remembered for his magnificent rescue, which will allow him to keep Pelé's head at the 1970 World Cup.

The Brazilian superstar paid his own tribute to his former rival and great friend. He said: "I have scored so many goals in my life, but many people, when they meet me, always ask me questions about this backup.

"Although it was really phenomenal, my memory of Gordon is not defined by that, but by his friendship, a kind and warm man who has given so much to people.

UEFA said the process would be communicated to the crowd via the stadium screens or the public announcements system.

"Les joueurs et les supporters sont impatients de le voir", a déclaré Solskjaer. "Ces nuits sont spéciales."

C’est le genre de jeux auquel Solskjaer a été habitué dans sa carrière de joueur à Londres sous Sir Alex Ferguson.

“If you had asked me before they had this moment, I would say ‘OK, so PSG are favourites’ but now I think it’s difficult.

“But I think PSG are little favourites because of the players they have but whoever wins, I’m the winner. So whoever goes through I will still have my team in the Champions League. So I’m OK, either way it goes.”

18:30: Manchester United fans should know that their Premier League rivals are fully prepared to put an asterisk next to this clash.

You just know that should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s win – PSG’s plague of injuries will be used an excuse.

Neymar and Edinson Cavani, who have scored 41 goals between them this season, are sidelined with foot and hip muscle injuries, respectively, while Thomas Meunier was rested after suffering a concussion.

Still, you can only beat the team in front of you – and it’s not like they don’t have strength in depth.

Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian are Manchester United's only absentees for the Champions League visit of PSG.

There had been fears that Victor Lindelof may also be sidelined after he missed the weekend victory over Fulham, but the Sweden defender was able to train on Monday.

Valencia and Darmian are expected to be out for around two weeks with minor injuries.

Edinson Cavani and Neymar are sidelined through injury as well as right-back Thomas Meunier.

Manchester United provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Grant, Dalot, Shaw, Young, Jones, Bailly, Smalling, Lindelof, Fred, Matic, Herrera, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Sanchez, Martial, Lukaku, Rashford
