President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he might be tempted to postpone the March 1 deadline to reach a trade deal with China if both parties were close to an agreement.

Officials in Washington and Beijing had previously said they hoped a new round of trade talks, which began earlier this week, could bring the two sides closer to a global deal.

In Asia, the broadest MSCI share index for the Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan, rose 0.5%, reaching its highest level since early October.

Back in Europe, investors should monitor another round of economic data on Wednesday morning.

Britain is expected to publish an annualized reading of inflation from January, around 9:30 am London time, and the eurozone is expected to release industrial production figures from one year to the next. Another for December, later in the session.

Natixis, AkzoNobel and Heineken were to publish their latest quarterly results on Wednesday.
