COLUMBUS, Ohio (ABC4 News) – In a message released by Redditt about two months ago, an Ohio teenager said his parents "think vaccines are a sort of government ploy".

Ethan Lindenberger added that he had never been vaccinated until recently.

He came out for the first time after turning 18 when his parents opposed it.

Lindenberger called his parents "stupid" for their opposition to vaccines in Reddit's post, but he said their conversation about his decision was civil.

"And while we were working on that, it was not easy to understand immediately or to understand immediately that I was doing it for my own safety and that of others. It's now in a fantastic place. My parents are very happy that I am happy. continuing to express that the importance of vaccines is not limited to me and others, and I am happy to share this story, "said Lindenberger.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports outbreaks of measles and mumps throughout the United States. Experts say the key to stopping them is getting vaccinated.
