The Privilege Committee is due to present its first report on Kennedy Agyapong to Parliament on Wednesday, February 13, regarding the derogatory comments he made about the legislature.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, was brought before the Privileges Committee for his remarks alleged to have offended Parliament and Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, leader of the majority.
Committee Chair Joseph Osei Owusu told the House on Tuesday that the first report on Mr. Agyapong was ready but another problem had also been referred to the Committee.
He added that the Committee had therefore decided to finish its work on the second question before submitting the reports.
However, the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Ocquaye, asked the Committee to present the report on the first case, tabled in Parliament by Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, Chief Whip of Minorities, no later than Wednesday.
The Privilege Committee investigated Mr. Agyapong in 2018 after stating that Parliament was "useless".
The investigation was conducted as a result of a petition filed by the chief bad of the minority, Muntaka Mubarak.
Subsequently, Kennedy Agyapong called Muntaka Mubarak dumb for referring to the Parliamentary Privilege Committee about the alleged insult.
Although Agyapong subsequently apologized, previous reports suggested that the committee recommended its suspension from Parliament.
