Dermot O 'Leary announced that he would no longer welcome NTAs.

In a statement posted on Instagram, he writes: "After 10 years of proudly hosting the National Television Awards, I decided it was time to leave the position of facilitator, a difficult decision to make because we We had a ball during the last decade, I want to thank Indigo and my ITV family for these ten brilliant years and look forward to being able to pbad the relay with pride in 2020 … and to spend holidays in January! "

The 45-year-old radio and television presenter recently made headlines when he joked that he would stop playing if Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly won the Best Presenter Award at the National Television Awards.

Dermot hosted the star-studded event for a decade

He told the Mirror that it would be time to throw in the towel if Ant and Dec were getting the prize for the 18th year in a row, after Ant spent 10 months out of the spotlight to focus on the fact to become sober.

The Geordie duo of course won the award – beating Holly Willoughby, Philip Schofield and Bradley Walsh – and in their merry acceptance speech, he wished Dermot a "happy retirement".

Dermot is married to Norwegian director and producer Dee Koppang O 'Leary, with whom he has two cats and who has not yet children.

Dermot wants to take a step back

"I really want children, but I have a very busy woman with a very busy life," he told Fabulous magazine in 2015.

"I want them when we both think it's the right thing to do.It's not fair that I say," I want children, now. "
