Minister of Regional Reorganization and Development Dan Botwe condemned the violence in South Salaga after choosing Damongo as the capital of the newly created Savannah region..

Some angry young people went on a rampage to protest the development, burning the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) constituency office and the billboards of some parties.

However, in an address delivered during the presentation of the Constitutional Instrument to create the Bono-East region, the minister said he was shocked by the reaction to what he said was extensive consultations with regional leaders prior to choosing Damongo.
