East Bono Region: Akufo-Addo means Techiman as capital

President Akufo-Addo announced that Techiman would be the regional capital of the newly created Bono East region..

the The President made this announcement Wednesday, February 13, 2019 during a presentation ceremony of Constitutional Instrument 113, which gives legal support to the Bono East region.

Shortly before the signing of the certificate of creation of the new region, President Akufo-Addo told a speech at the Golden Jubilee House that government projects would be distributed equitably throughout the Bono East region.

He also appointed the regional minister of Brong-Ahafo, m Evans Opoku-Bobie as interim minister of the new region, baduring that a native of Bono East would soon be named substantive minister.

The eastern Bono region of Ghana has been cut from the existing Brong Ahafo region of Ghana.

After winning the elections, Akufo-Addo created the Ministry of Regional Reorganization to oversee the formulation and implementation of the policy.

In the six new regions, Ghana's ten existing regions need to be created. The other regions are the West, North, Ahafo, Savannah, Northeast and Oti regions.

Similar ceremonies to create the Savannah and Northeast regions took place yesterday at the same place. The last two regions, Western North and Oti, respectively cut in the Western and Volta regions, will be consumed on Friday, February 15th.
