Red Bull Racing today unveiled its RB15 at Silverstone in the expert hands of Max Verstappen. Even though it was a shakedown, the Dutchman always smiles.
Red Bull has operated one of its two days of licensed filming to check out the systems of its first Honda motor car.
In a short video posted on Twitter, Verstappen presented a positive badessment of his first race aboard the new car.
"The day is over, the first kilometers with the car," he said.
"After my first race, I smiled, very happy with the way the car was behaving – plus the engine too, very positive.
"It's a very good group of people to work with as well."
The pre-season tests will start on Monday in Barcelona and will give an insight into how F1 works.
Whether or not Red Bull remains among the top trio of the Grand Prix will likely depend on Honda's ability to provide a powerful and reliable engine.
"We are expecting a lot," Verstappen said. "We are all very positive, but it must also take a little time.
"It's not as if, from the first race, it could be perfect. It is certain that there will be times when the team will make mistakes or maybe that will not happen as we would like.
"What's very important is the team and Honda are really trying to improve development.
"At the moment, of course I am very optimistic, but also realistic, time will tell how we are going to perform."
